I was looking at the news and stuff trying to find something to maybe post in current events but it seems like the only thing on the news these day are people dying or getting killed. Has anyone else noticed this?

Someone needs to stand on their roof and scream at
celebs to stop dying. Its crazy and to be honest I'm sick of hearing about
it. I feel bad for their families and all that happy crap that everyone
says that makes them think they are such wonderful people now.
Yet lets face it, half the people that like Michael Jackson right now
never heard one of his songs before he was dead. It kind of reminds
me of the crazy after 9/11. All these people put flags and red white and
blue stuff all over their yard and claimed to be a 'true American'
and all this other garbage. I'm sure I'm going to piss some people
off when I say it but just because you put a flag on your front pourch
or a support our troops thing on your car doesn't make you better then
someone that doesn't, nor does it make you a better American.
Go feed a helpless child in Iraq, or take a bullet for a war you wanted no
part of in the first place, then we'll talk about you being a hero.

dude. I know what you mean. everyone hated micheal jackson a while back, now that he's dead he's just the greatest thing since sliced bread. i will never understand the concept of people becoming oh so wonderful as soon as they are dead.
yeah. i remember my annoying father stuck flags on our lawn. i'm pretty sure it did no one any good.
yeah, try actually supporting the troops not just telling everyone that you do. that could be a step in the right direction.

the reason that we just mainly hear about killings and bad things is that people care about that kind of thing. it draws their attention. let's face it, people are not interested in the governor of maine planting a few hundred flowers in a local park. that's boring. you have to admit it. however, hearing about things like airplane crashes and terrorist attacks keep people drawn to the television and watch more of their programming. if they talked about flowers and kangaroos all day, people would shut off the tv and go do something else, like socialise for reals.
same thing goes for newspapers. they put important, horrible tragic things on the front page so people pick it up, get interested, and buy their paper. people don't care about other lives, they care about them, their money, and that's it.

Granted. However, a lot of this depressing crap gets boring
after a while too. I get sick of hearing about planes crashes and
bombs and what not the same way I'd get sick of hearing about
happy go lucky crap. That's just me and I get that, but the news
seems to be in a rut for a while now. They're really milking this Michael Jackson
thing for all its worth if you ask me.

yeah. i was NEVER a michael jackson fan. i couldn't stand the guy, now everyone thinks he is great just because he is dead. humans.

They find a topic and they milk the shit out of it. It seems like
just an easy story for them. I guess as long as they have something
to say on the topic they feel as though they have done their jobs.
Which is why I personally don't even watch the news. Everything I
learn I do through reading. Mostly on the internet. I know most people
are gonna go " oh no you can't trust the internet" and usually I would agree.
However, if you check out independent sites and then research the info
you find not to make sense and really do your homework, you'd be
surprised about what you can find out that is happening just in your
own backyard. That's the trouble with America today. Everyone has
become so lazy with their TVs and their I-phones and all that technology
crap. Put down the remote and read, you'll be really surprised and how
much the government is monitoring the stuff that is put on the news.

as far as i've ever seen you can't trust the tv anymore than the internet. i haven't ever really bothered to read up on things.

TV is the most monitored because it is the way most people
receive the news. If you really want to know whats going on with the
world then you have to read. You have to find opinions that aren't
going to be bias. I don't mind people that choose to not follow the
whats going on in the world today. Yet I have to admit that the people
that flick on CBS and fill up on that bullshit they preach and claim to know
what is really going on in the world drive me nuts.

yeah. i went through a face in which i thought watching the news was actually interesting. then i realized that it was 90% bullshit. so i got over it. if i really want to know about something i will look online... but that doesn't happen very often.
