The most common answer when people were asked what would make them join a general forum was that they would only join a general forum if they already knew people there.

So, if you know anyone that you know from another board that might be interested in joining just cause they love you so much feel free to invite them over. :]

Also, if you have any suggestions on how to get more people to join please let me know. :]

Oh I've ran a million sites I can give you a couple ways to get members.

1. Appeal to the biggest group of people you can. It's better to get

the group then spend all your time advertising to one person in a

chatroom or a place where you talk to people one on one.

2. Tell them what your site is about COMPLETELY in your advertisement.

Let them know what the site is about. This might be the exact site

someone is looking for but they didn't feel like going through a misleading ad.

3. Offer prizes. I know you can't do too much and I'm not saying

spend money or anything like that. Offer custom titles and things

like that that cost you nothing yet give people a sense of victory.

4. Once the site gets a tad bigger perhaps advertise that you are

looking for staff. People always seem to get more active and try

harder to get the attention of the admin if they think they are working

for a spot on the staff.

5. Stay as active as you possible can. No one wants to join a site

where the person that made it isn't even active.
